Today I put Will down for his nap. I typically sing to him hymns from a hymn book that my grandmother gave to me so today I chose the song "Let Us Break Bread Together."
Before I began, I explained to Will that this song was about Communion, the time in our services where we eat bread and drink juice in order to remember the body and blood of Jesus and how He died for our sins.
Will asked me, "Daddy, can I have the juice too?" I said, "Will, communion is reserved for those whom have accepted Jesus as Lord."
Then my oldest boy looked at me and said, "But daddy, I have accepted Jesus as Lord."
It made my heart stop. I long for the day when this will become a reality in the lives of both of my boys but I know that right now Will is not ready because he still has not reached a place of maturity where he would understand such a decision.
So I told him, "Will, someday you will make that decision. You will accept Jesus and be baptized. Then we will all cheer and clap our hands like we did today when we watched another being baptized."
Just the thought of that day makes me want to cry. Thank you Lord for making me a father. Thank you Lord for giving to me Your Son.

Our First Camp Out!
We decided to try our first camp out this weekend. We decided to camp out in the backyard for the first time just to make sure everything went well. We had fun making smores before we went to bed. As soon as we laid down, it started raining. After laying there for an hour listening to the rain, we decided to go in. The tent was starting to get wet and no on was sleeping so we thought we would try it another night.
My Birthday
For my birthday this year, Josh planned for us to go paint some pottery. The boys each painted a plate and then put their handprints on it. We haven't gotten them yet but I'm sure they will be awesome!

The Dreaded Pony Ride...
So...my friend found some pony rides and suggested it as a fun outing - the boys and I were pretty excited about it. I was leading Andrew on this pony named Thomas. He started getting a little frisky and started walking quickly. He was getting faster and faster....I remember thinking, "This pony is not running away with my son." I let go with one hand and grabbed/knocked Andrew off the horse. He fell to the ground just as Thomas ran off. His hand was scrapped but no other injuries - Thank you Jesus!! He settled down and Will decided he did NOT want his turn! We got in the car a little later and Andrew said, "That was fun!" Will replied, "Even if you fell off the horse, Andrew, you still think it was fun?" Andrew said, "Yeah!"
I was pretty overwhelmed with the possibilities of all that could have happened. I truly believe that God protected him. What an awesome God we serve!

Visitors!
We had a couple of visitors last week. First, my college friend Emily and her husband Terry, and Emily's parents stopped by for a short visit. They were on their way back from vacation and stopped to see us. Next, Dustin and Tessa were up visiting from Arkansas. It was great to see them. The boys loved playing with them!

Dancing to the Beat...
We went to the county fair and there was a band. Andrew was really into it (as you can see)! He played the air guitar and danced more!
